What the customer leaves with

A record of the visit, not a scrap of paper.

Every check gets an answer. Every answer gets a note. Work done today stays apart from work still to do.

  1. Your shop, on top of every page

Name, address, phone and logo, then the customer, the vehicle, a 17-character VIN and the odometer.

  2. Pass, Attn or Fail

One mark per line, a note beside it. Tires and brakes are read wheel by wheel, with tread, pressure, wear code and DOT date.

  3. Done today, needed now, needed soon

The findings and estimate page keeps finished work apart from recommendations, with parts, labour, amount and the customer’s approve or decline initials.

Three kits

Which inspection form does my shop need?

Pick the kit by the desk where the car is. The repair bay uses the multi-point inspection. A rental or loaner counter uses the check-in and check-out record. A used car on the lot gets the condition report. Each kit is $4.00, with a filled sample to train on.

FAQ

Questions shops ask

Something else? hello@inspectioncard.com

What is a car inspection form?

A car inspection form is the sheet a shop uses to record what it checked on a vehicle and what it found. On our forms your shop’s name is at the top, each check is marked Pass, Attn or Fail with a note, and the customer gets the page to take with them.

Which form is used to document the inspection of a vehicle?

In a repair shop it is usually a multi-point inspection form. At a rental or loaner counter it is a check-out and check-in record. For a used vehicle it is a condition report. We sell one kit for each: the multi-point inspection form, the rental check-in and check-out form and the used vehicle condition report kit.

What is the format of a car inspection report?

Ours starts with the shop header (name, address, phone, logo), then the customer and vehicle with a 17-character VIN and the odometer. Below that come grouped checks, each with Pass, Attn or Fail and a note, then the technician’s sign-off. Each kit comes as a US Letter PDF and an A4 PDF that you can fill in on screen or print.

How to fill out a vehicle inspection report?

Enter the vehicle and customer on side 1 of the multi-point inspection. Mark one box per row, Pass, Attn or Fail, and write a note where it helps. On side 2, record tire, brake and battery readings per position. Put finished work and recommendations on the findings and estimate page.

What should be included in a vehicle inspection?

A shop inspection sheet covers under hood, lights and electrical, wipers and glass, HVAC, tires, brakes, battery, steering and suspension, and under-vehicle checks. Our multi-point sheet lists each of these as a line with a result and a note. Your shop decides how it inspects, and the sheet records it.

Can I download a free Excel template for a vehicle inspection checklist?

No, the forms are PDF files, not Excel spreadsheets. Side 1 of our multi-point inspection is a free, fillable PDF with no sign-up. The paid kits add side 2, the estimate page, filled samples and your logo.

What do I get when I buy, and how is it delivered?

Each kit is a set of digital PDF files, and nothing is shipped. You pay once at checkout. After payment you land on our thank-you page and the files arrive by email: the kit as US Letter and A4 PDFs, plus the add-your-logo tool.

Is this a state inspection form?

No, these are generic forms for your business to hand to its customers. They are not a state safety or emissions inspection form and not a manufacturer’s form. For a state inspection, use your state’s official paperwork.
